Steam-Powered Battle-Barrels sequel(s)
As those of you who have finished the book have seen, I not only have a sequel in the works but also a clear direction of where I want to take the series. There’s several books I’d like to make in the main series, possibly a couple of side stories, but I want to reassure everyone of a few things. Firstly, I already have the finale written, so there’s a clear vision for how things will wrap up. Secondly, whatever happens to the characters and setting, this will always be a steampunk story and world at its heart. Finally, and similarly to my last point, this will always be a queer story. There is no world in which I ease away from the LGBTQIA+ nature of these characters. If that lowers the potential readers by a large margin, so be it. This series isn’t for people that would be bothered by that. It’s for us.

Other Indie Games
Not including the Steam-Powered Battle-Barrels game I’d love to make someday, I have a handful of other video games I’d love to get the chance to make eventually. Some of these are as far as full documents with their story and gameplay mechanics outlined, some are a couple of sentences as a general premise. Currently, I’m working on a small title tentatively called ‘A Summer in Maine’ which I’m working on in my spare time. I should have a demo out for it sometime in early 2026, so keep your eyes out here, my bluesky, or on itchio. It’s just a little adventure game with puzzles not unlike a point and click sort of thing, but I’m making it in rpg maker to give you an idea of what it will play like. Looking forward to finishing the demo seeing what people think of it soon. Do let me know if you play it!

Steam-Powered Battle-Barrels video game
My dream project for Battle-Barrels is a video game prequel set in New Raelum that follows the bounty hunting exploits of Ana and Phil before the events of the book. As eagle-eyed readers may have noticed, there’s a couple of hints scattered throughout the book as to the story I have planned for this prequel. It’s going to be one of those ‘small-number’ turn-based rpgs with reaction commands, a big world to explore, lots of bounties to take down, and of course bombastic steam-powered brawls. I’ve got a document with dozens of pages detailing everything from how the combat and gameplay systems work as well as the story and characters. Truly all I need is the right resources and people and it’s as good as made. Depending on how things go, I’m open to the idea of trying a kickstarter campaign, but we’ll have to see what interest looks like first. As far as the game’s look, I absolutely adore fifth generation graphics (psx especially), so I’d love to go for something in that style. It’s so easy for me to picture the dark and dingy streets of New Raelum with those beautifully chunky graphics. I’ll definitely be looking for collaborators in the near future for this game, so feel free to let me know if you’re interested in working on it. There’s a lot of games I don’t know if I’ll ever get to make, but this is the one I’m set on bringing into existence no matter what.

Random Projects
Aside from the Battle-Barrels book series and my ever-growing passion to make video games, I have a few other odds and ends that I’d love to devote some attention to when I can. There’s songs I’ve written I’d love to record and more. I don’t have much interest in running a youtube channel (having tried it in my early 20s and failed quite miserably lol), but there’s a certain piece of media I’d love to make a several hour long video essay about. Similar to some of the indie games I have planned, I’ve got a good amount of a script finished for it already. I’m pretty bad at video editing (again, past experiences have taught me as much), but if I could find someone to edit, I’d happily get to work recording that. Again, it would really just be a passion project though as I can’t really see myself making videos regularly. One thing I could see myself doing is streaming, which I’ve tried before and had an okay time with. I’d love to just work on model trains someday and stream it for people to watch, but that’s likely not gonna be possible unless I can move somewhere with a bit more space (not to mention the cost of the hobby which I definitely can’t afford yet). It could be fun to stream video games till I get to that point through. But hey, I can dream haha. Either way, I want to be careful not to split my attention in too many directions. Right now I’m devoting much of my free time to the next SPBB book and also the demo for ‘A Summer in Maine’. It’s tricky when you have so much to do and only so much time to work on it, but maybe someday if everything goes in a good direction, I could start working full time on creative stuff.
